let go 的物件既可以是具體的，也可以是抽象的
Let 是常見的使役動詞之一，其中
let‘s 和 let us
的區別一直是我們學習 let 的主要原因，但是 let 的用法不侷限在祈使句的用法；當你在學習 let 的使役用法過程中感動疲憊時，試著學習其他的用法。
比如 let go，顧名思義它就是“放開”的意思，而且放開的物件既可以是具體的，也可以是抽象的；在口語中也經常出現它的身影。
一、let sth/sb go | let go (of sb/sth)
1。 意為”放開，鬆手“，接的物件是具體的，例如：
Don’t let the rope go。
別鬆開繩子。
Hold on tight and don‘t let go！
抓緊，別鬆手！
The baby refused to let go of the rattle。
嬰兒不肯放開撥浪鼓。
Let go of my hand， you’re hurting
me！
放開我的手，你弄痛我了！（
hurt 的主語到底是什麼呢？主語不同，含義不同
）
2。 Let go 單獨使用時，用來命令別人放手，例如：
Let go！ You‘re hurting me！
放手！你把我弄疼了。
3。 Let sb go 也可以用來表示解僱某人，意為“解僱，開除”，相當於 fire sb，例如：
I’m worried that they‘ll let me go once this special project is over。
我擔心一旦這個特別專案結束，他們會解僱我。
They’re having to let 100 employees go because of
falling profits。
由於利潤下降，他們不得不解僱100名員工。
4。 Let sb go，還可以意為“釋放某人”，例如：
Will they let the hostages go？
他們是否會釋放人質？
What time did you let go the prisoner？
你什麼時候放了那個囚犯？
5。 意為”放棄，摒棄（想法、態度或控制）“，接的物件是抽象的，例如：
該忘掉過去了。
It’s time to let the past go。
It‘s time to let go of the past。
她發現很難釋懷怨恨。
She finds it hard
to let go of a grudge。
She finds it hard to let a grudge go。
二、let sth go

意為”不再照管，撒手不管”，通常指房屋或花園，等
I’m afraid I‘ve let the garden go this year。
恐怕我今年沒有照看好園子。
三、let yourself go
當連自己都放得開的話，就沒有什麼放不開了，此時用 let yourself go，它主要有兩個意思。
1。 意為“隨心所欲，放鬆”等，可用來安慰心事重重或多愁善感的人等，相當於 let your hair down，例如：
Come on， enjoy
yourself， let yourself go！
來吧，盡情地玩，玩個痛快吧！
I love to dance and just
let myself go。
我喜歡跳舞來放鬆自己。
在過去，女性在公共場合會把頭髮紮起來，只有在私下或非正式場合才會把頭髮解開，因此也用 let your hair down 來表示放鬆，例如：
Why don’t you let your hair down a bit？ Come out
with us for
the evening。
你為什麼不放鬆一下呢？晚上和我們一起出去。
I like to let my hair down on the dance floor。
我喜歡在舞池裡放鬆一下。
2。 意為“不注重儀表，不修邊幅”，例如：
He has let himself go since
he lost his job。
他失業後就不修邊幅了。
When I was depressed
， I let myself go and was really a mess。
當我情緒低落的時候，就沒有注重儀表了，真的是一團糟。
四、let it go (at that)
Let it go （at that），意為“到此為止，不再多說（或多做），就這樣吧”等，例如：
Let it go； we needn’t discuss it further
。
到此為止，我們不必再討論了。
Don‘t get so angry about
it。 Let it go。
別為此生氣。就這樣吧。（
別搞混了！Angry 可以和很多介詞連用，但是用法不一樣）
