矩陣聯動丨“闖紅燈”英語怎麼說？別告訴我是“break the red light”！
紅燈停綠燈行這是我們從小就知道的道理，但還是會有一些人不注意交通規則，現實生活中也有不少人因此而失去性命。今天來學習一下有關過馬路的英語表達吧~

來往車輛、行人都需要根據交通訊號燈的指示行進，這種來來往往、有秩序的畫面有時能讓人感覺到很幸福。交通訊號燈可以說 “
Traffic Light
” 或是 “
Traffic Signal
”。
The red traffic light indicates that every person and vehicle must stop。
紅色訊號燈表示人和車輛不能通行。

greenlight 除了表示“綠燈”，還有其他延伸的意思。想想一路綠燈的情況，那是不是感覺非常順暢、順利呢，greenlight 還可以表示
許可、批准
。
give sb. / sth. the green light
給某人某事許可、批准
Speaking with reporters at Pentagon， Gates said he will probably greenlight the plan。
蓋茨在五角大樓對記者表示，他可能會批准這一計劃。
If you believe， your greenlight is just around you。

闖紅燈用英語該怎麼說？這個要分情況來講。
①
看左右沒車，就闖紅燈，此時用
jump the red light
這裡的 jump 表示忽略的意思，忽略了紅燈。
They jump the red light and then hit you。
就像他們闖過紅燈，把你撞了。
②
直接衝過去的闖紅燈，此時用
run the red light
Some people even ignore traffic rules and risk their lives to run the red light。
有些人甚至無視交通規則，冒著生命危險闖紅燈。

amber light
紅燈是 “Red Light”、綠燈是 “Green Light”，那麼黃燈難道就是 “Yellow Light” 嗎？
其實 Yellow Light 這種說法
也是可以的
，只不過還有一個更加地道的表達。。。。
那就是 Amber，
amber /mb（r）/ 是“琥珀（色）”的意思，琥珀色和黃色很像。這個表達更加地道一點。
But when the light hits them they change to amber。
但是如果有光照在上面就會變成琥珀色。

可以直譯，
wait for the red light to change
（to green）
注意：介詞 for 不能忘記啦！而且 red light 後面要加上 to change ，不然你是在等紅燈出現麼？
