直接引語、間接引語
直接引語是直接引用說話人的原話,把原話置於引號內的一種語言形式。間接引語是用自己的話對原話加以陳述。
直接引語變間接引語須在人稱,時態及地點狀語等方面作相應的變化。
1. 時態的變化(動詞的時態在間接引語中的變化規則)

2. 時間,地點狀語及其它方面在間接引語中的變化。

1.如果直接引語為陳述句,變為間接引語時常用從屬連詞that引導(口語中可省略),引述動常常用say, tell等。同時,
概據
主語的要求,間接引語須在人稱,時態及其它方面作相應的變化。
--She said to me,“I have left my book in your room.”
--She told me that she had left her book in my room.她告訴我她把書丟到我房裡了。
--He said,“I will do it here.”他說,“我就在這兒幹。”
--He said he would do it there.他說他就在那兒幹。
--Mr. Black said,“I’m sorry.”布萊克先生說,“對不起.”
--Mr. Black said he was sorry. 布萊克先生說對不起。
若引述的內容是客觀事實、科學真理、現在習慣性動作以及格言等,間接
此語
中動詞的時態不變。
--The teacher said that the Changjiang River is the first largest river in China. 老師說長江是中國第一大河。
如果直接引語為疑問句,變為間接引語時關聯詞用whether, if 或其他疑問詞;詞序與一般從句相同,引述動詞常用say, ask, wonder, inquire 等。
1)直接引語為一般疑問句,變為間接引語時應由whether或if 引導.
--“Is he your brother?” he said.
--He asked if he was my brother. 他問我他是不是我的兄弟。
2)直接引語為特殊疑問句,變為間接引語時,其關聯詞應用疑問代詞或疑問副詞,語序是陳述句語序。
--Mr. Smith asked, “What is your name?”
--Mr. Smith asked what my name was. 史密斯先生問我叫什麼名字。
--He asked,“How are you getting along?”
--He asked us how we were getting along.他問我們情形怎樣。
3.如果直接引語為祈使句,變為間接引語時多用“名詞(代詞)+不定式”結構。
1)引述表示命令的祈使句,常用動詞order, tell, warn;
2)引述表示請求的祈使句,常用動詞ask, beg;
3)引述表示建議、勸告的祈使句,常用動詞advise等。
--The boss said,“Please come here again tomorrow.”
--The boss asked me to go there again the next day. 老闆要我第二天再去。
--The boss said,“Get everything ready in two hours.”
--The boss ordered us to get everything ready in two hours. 老闆命令我們兩小時後把一切準備好。
Question: Does Grandmother seem pleased to get a card from Jimmy? Why?/ Why not?
收到吉米寄來的明信片,祖母是否顯得很高興?為什麼(不)高興?
Read Jimmy’s card to me please, Penny.
--read sth to sb 把…讀給…聽
--Read the newspaper to me. 讀這份報紙給我聽。
--Can you read the letter to me? 你能給我讀一下這封信嗎?

‘I have just arrived in Scotland and I’m staying at a Youth Hostel.’
這是一個直接引語的例子,是penny 直接讀出她的兒子寫在明信片上的話,實際講的話要放在引號之間。 句尾的標點符號也要放在引號內。
--just 剛剛(完成時態)
--He has just given the key to me. 她剛剛把鑰匙給我。
--She has just gone to the library. 他剛剛去圖書館。
--just 正要…,剛要… (進行時態)
--They were just cheating. The teacher came here. 他們剛要作弊, 老 師過來了。
--He was just leaving. His parents called. 他正要離開,他的父母打電話了。
--arrive in + 城市/ 國名
--She arrived in Madrid yesterday. 她昨天到了馬德里。
--arrive in +公共場所地點名稱(airport, park, the station)
--We arrived at the airport the minutes ago. 我們十分鐘前到達機場。
--They have just arrived at the hotel. 他們剛剛到這個旅館。
I’m staying at a Youth Hostel.
--stay at a Youth Hostel 住在青年招待所

的居住,不可用live代替
He says he’s just arrived in Scotland. He says he’s staying at a Youth Hostel. You know he’s a member of the Y.H.A.
他說他剛到蘇格蘭,他說他現在住在一家青年招待所。你知道,他是“青招協”的一個成員。
He says he’s just arrived in Scotland.
He says he’s staying at a Youth Hostel. 這兩句都是間接引語,從句中的主語要變成“he”.
You know…後接賓語從句

--When else can we meet again? 其它什麼時間我們再見面呢?
--Where else have you been? 你還去過其它什麼地方?
--Who else can do it? 還有誰能做這件事?
‘I’ll write a letter soon. I hope you are all well.’ 我很快會寫信的。祝你們大家身體都好。
這兩句是直接引語,說話內容要放在引號中。
--soon 不久
--You go tin front . I’ll catch up with you soon.
I hope 接賓語從句
--you are all well 作I hope 的賓語,省略“that”.
--all 全部 (指數量為3或3個以上的人或物)
What? Speak up, Penny. I’m afraid I can’t hear you.
--up adv. 表示強度等由弱到強,由低到高
--speak up 大聲點說
--hear 聽見(聽到的結果)
He says he’ll write a letter soon. He hopes we are all well. ‘love, Jimmy.’
這兩句是間接引語,從句的人稱要作相應的變化。
He doesn’t say very much, does he?
這句是反意疑問句,由兩部分組成,前面是一個陳述句,後面是一個簡略問句,中間用逗號隔開,反意疑問句可以用來確認自己的判斷,還可以用來表示驚訝,憤怒等感情。如果前一部分陳述句是肯定形式,簡略問句就要用否定形式;如果前一部分陳述句是否定形式,後一部分則用肯定形式,回答反意疑問句要根據實際情況而定。
實際情況:He is an engineer.
--He is an engineer, isn’t he? 他是一個工程師,是嗎?
--Yes, he is.
--He isn’t an engineer, is he? 他不是一個工程師,是嗎?
--Yes, he is.不,他是一個工程師。
He can’t write very much on a card, Mum.
--much prep. 指代不可數名詞,這裡指所寫內容

--exam n. 考試(examination 較為正式一些)
--He is a good student. He usually gets over 80 points in any exam.他是個好學生,他任何考試通常都在80分以上。

--take an exam 參加考試
--pass an exam/ examination 考試及格

4)把…遞給… (接雙賓語)
--pass sb sth= pass sth to sb
--Please pass him the paper.= Please pass the paper to him. 請把這張紙傳給他。
5)…消失,結束
--Come on! You’ll be fine. The sorrow will pass. 好了,你會沒事的,悲傷會過去的。
--mathematics n. 數學(maths是縮寫)
--She is poor at mathematics. 她數學不太好。
--Are you good at mathematics? 你數學好嗎?
--I passed in mathematics .我通過了數學考試。
--question
1) n. 問題(反義詞answer)
--question and answer
--questions and answers 問題和解答
--May I ask you a question? 我能問你個問題嗎?
--I can’t answer the last tow questions. 最後兩個問題 我回答不上來。
--beside the question 離題的
--beyond question 毫無疑問
--He is beyond question the best student in this class. 他確實是這個班最好的學生。
--out of the question 根本不可能
--It is out of the question to make him help us. 讓他幫助我們是不可能的。
2)v. 詢問,審問
--I’ll question him about what he was doing yesterday. 我想問他昨天做了些什麼?

--easy adj.
1) 簡單的,容易的 反義詞difficult
--This is an easy question. 這是個簡單的問題。

--The task is easy to do. 這個工作容易做。
--It’s easy for sb to do… 對某人來說做某事

--be easy on sb / be easy with sb 對…寬容,不 嚴厲
--Why are you so easy on her? 你為什麼那麼寬容她?
4)短語
--Take is easy ! 放心好了,彆著急。
--easy does it 慢點兒, 小心點
--enough
1) adv. 足夠地
--He runs fast enough to catch up with his friend. 他跑得夠快,能夠趕上他的朋友。
--enough for sb to do 足夠做….
--This room is big enough for us to live in . 這個房間我們住足夠大了。
--You are not old enough to do it. 你還太小,不能做這件事情。
2)adj. 充足的
--Do you have enough time to do it? 你有時間

這件事嗎?
--Do you have enough chairs for everyone? 你有足夠的椅子給每個人嗎?
--The pieces of paper are enough.
--enough+ n. + (for sb) + to do 足夠(某人)做… 的
--Do you have enough money to lend me five dollars? 你有沒有足夠的錢,借我5美元。

1) n. 分數(可數名詞)

--You can eat up the rest of the bread. 你可以把剩下的麵包吃光。

1) adj. 困難的

1) 振作,振奮

--guy n. 傢伙,人 複數guys
--He’s a nice guy. 他是個好人
--top n. 上方,頂部 反義詞bottom
--at the top of a mountain 在山頂
Question: How long did the exam last?
How was the exam, Richard? 考試考得怎麼樣,理查德?
--How + be +sth/ sb? …..怎麼樣?用來問人的時候一般用來問人的身體或生活情況。
--How is life? 生活如何?、
--How are things?情況怎麼樣?
Not too bad. I think I passed in English and Mathematics. The questions were very easy. How about you, Gary?
--not too bad 不算太壞 too表示過於,具有否定含義
--It’s too heavy. I can’t lift it. 太重了,我搬不動。
--too….for sb to do 對某人來說太… 以至於不能…
--The exam is too difficult for her to pass. 考試太難,以至於她不能透過。
--The boy is too young to join the army. 這個男孩太小了,還不能參軍。
--too….. that…. (that從句-否定形式)
--The boy too young that he can’t join the army. 這個男孩太小,還不能參軍。

--How about… ? … 怎麼樣?用來徵求別人的意見、詢問情況,相當於what about…?
The English and Maths papers weren’t easy enough for me. I hope I haven’t failed.
--the English and Maths papers 英文和數學試卷 paper作試卷講,是可數名詞
--enough 的用法 一般放在形容詞之後使用
--The room is big enough for us. 這個房間對我們來說夠大了。
--The book isn’t interesting enough for me. 這本書對我來說不算有趣。
--enough 放在名詞之前
--He didn’t buy the computer, because he didn’t have enough money. 他沒有買計算機,因為他沒有錢了。
--enough…for sb/ sth to do sth
--The room isn’t gig enough for three people to live in. 這個房間不夠大,不夠三個人住。
--You son is old enough to live by himself.
I could answer sixteen of the questions.
--fail the French paper 法語不及格
--could 是can的過去式,表示能夠,這個考試發生在過去,所以用could.
--answer sixteen of the question 回答十六個問題
--the rest 指的是其餘的,其它的考題
